Following up on a historic local kick-off in July, the NAACP-Boston Branch is curating a number of virtual roundtable discussions to coincide with the national NAACP convention. Focusing on Boston Perspectives through voices from our city and beyond. Content is committed to diligently persist towards freedom and racial equity.

PAST NAACP BOSTON 111th NATIONAL CONVENTION EVENTS

 

NAACP BOSTON FREEDOM WEEKEND I

July 31st 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Drive-in Soul Music Concert

Support local artists and businesses. 

The concert is FREE! To maintain COVID-19 safety precautions, the number of vehicles are limited and attendess must remain in their vehicles.

We will livestream the event to a broader audience.

 

In partnership with the City of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the University of Massachusetts.

 

This event was a historic coming together of musicians, artists, Black and LatinX businesses owners to produce a once in a lifetime event in South Boston.

NAACP Boston Branch Day of Action & Service

We have both virtual ( Census and Voting Awareness phone banking) and in-person (Neighborhood beautification, Boston Public Schools support, Food Banking, Voter Education) volunteer opportunities.  The in-person volunteer opportunities will be in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Jamaica Plain, & Hyde Park.

  

In partnership with the City of Boston, Boston Public Schools, MassVOTE & Local Organizational Partners

 

We were joined by over 500 volunteers, who made 4,788 phone calls during the census phonebank, supported over 12 Boston Public Schools, 12 street ways and parks, registered voters and together declared FREEDOM IS OUR MISSION!  The Day of Service was supported by several of the National NAACP MOU parnters including Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Omega Psi Phi, Delta Sigma Theta, Phi Beta Sigma, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, the Links, the Mason, and the Eastern Stars.

 

 

FREEDOM MOVEMENT: The Next Generation

NAACP Boston Branch Virtual Innovation Academy

Tuesdays 4:15pm-6:15 pm

in partnership with Commonwealth of MA DCR & Street2Ivy

 

Our mission is simple, smart, and solutions-oriented - to empower aspiring change makes with the resources to harness their creativity and imaginations to take their success to the next level.

 

The Innovation Academy 2020 youth program, called Compete by Design offers an amazing opportunity to empower communities the NAACP serves with the resources necessary to establish small businesses by removing the common barriers to entry. The academy will accomplish this by introducing participants to University and Master Class quality content, tools and strategies around design thinking, innovation and new business start-up. Specifically, participants. In the course will complete the following Virtual, Fast-Paced, Interactive Sessions (over the course of 5 weeks).

 

THIS IS A FREE PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE STUDENTS.
